Appetite for Righteousness

righteousness

I left home a week after my high school graduation to evangelize. My first venture for an extended time away. The first home I was in the pastor’s wife made a wonderful meal and one of the vegetables was squash. I did not like squash but remembered my father’s admonition, “If they cook it, you eat it…don’t be picky.” So I ate it and to my amazement learned to like squash to the point I often get hungry for it. Appetites are learned.

“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” Matt 5:6

It is not natural for us to be righteous, however, if we will seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness we will soon develop a liking for righteousness. In fact, the more we pursue it and live it the more it will become a part of us, until we are hungry and thirsty for righteousness. When that happens, nothing will satisfy us like righteousness, which we can know that God will provide that satisfaction. Appetite for righteousness.

Just a Thought! God Bless…
