Good morning! This morning our hearts go out to friends in Mena, Arkansas who experienced a tornado last night in their town, we are praying for you.
Several years ago I was driving from Brandon, Manitoba, Canada to Minot, North Dakota. It was a freezing cold night with the wind kicking up ground blizzards. The area was very unfamiliar to me and being alone I was a bit concerned. The rental truck I was driving had given us problems all of the way from California and I was just praying I would make it in safe. On the horizon I saw the welcoming lights of the city of Minot and thought I would be there momentarily not realizing that I was still several miles from the city and it was almost an hour before I reached it. On the plains of North Dakota there was nothing to hide the lights of the city so it could be seen from miles away.
“Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.” Matt 5:14
I wonder what kind of direction and hope my life brings to others. Do I show a light to my world that says there is hope and peace available through the God I serve? Is my light obscured by all of the clutter of life? Do I allow my emotions, my likes and dislikes to shadow my light, shining it only to those I favor? I pray that God will help me to be a city that cannot be hid. This light must shine!
Just a thought! God Bless…
