”Don’t Give Up”
Scripture Text: O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth forever. (Psalm 136:1 KJV)
It was time for the Passover Feast in Jerusalem. Jesus knew his time on earth would soon end. Jesus takes all his twelve disciples aside from all the crowds of people. Jesus explains to his disciples what is soon going to take place. Soon he will be condemned to die. Blind Bartimaeus was a blind beggar from Jericho. He was sitting on the roadside begging when Jesus was passing through Jericho. In the Word of God it records, “And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me’’ (Mark 10:47 KJV). The crowds of people urged him to be quiet and be still. But, he cried much louder than before: ’’ Thou son of David, have mercy on me!” Blind Bartimaeus only wished Jesus would touch and heal his blind eyes. When Jesus calls for Blind Bartimaeus, he immediately throws his garment aside, and run towards Jesus. In the Word of God it records, ‘’And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight’’. (Mark 10:51 KJV) Bartimaeus received his sight and followed Jesus. There are many times we all face terrible things. Some of your troubles were from a bad relationship that keeps haunting you. Your bills may be due and the bill collectors are calling you. You have no money in the bank to cover what you have spent out. Maybe your child is sick and you have no insurance to get them to the doctor’s for medical care. I’m sure at times that we may feel that the Lord doesn’t answer our prayers. Do we really trust the Lord to help us through our problems? Are you carrying some bad experience? Give to it to the Lord, and I will guarantee you that He will take care of it for you. Through the pain we are experiencing, we need a closer walk with Him, and a bond that no man can break or destroy. We have to watch our attitudes in these times of pain. Many people are watching us, they are ready for us to throw in the towel and give up. We are the only Bible some people read, sadly, but it’s the truth. My hours at work change last Wednesday. I am not sure if its set in stone yet. I get up at 4:30 AM, so I will have plenty of time to read three chapters in my bible. I always want to read my bible when I get up, this is one way I don’t have everything going through my mind. I can read and meditate on the scriptures. Remember, this is the only way we can fight the enemy is the Word of God. We can’t miss Heaven for anything, it’s not worth it. Hang in there friends, the best is yet to come for you!
