Standing Firm in our Faith

On The Mountain With Jesus

Standing Firm in our Faith

1 Corinthians 16:13 (KJV) Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.

When the flu bug gets us, or other trials and afflictions such as temptations, or stresses in our home etc. we feel like just staying in bed and not doing anything. Our strength is drained and our heads ache. Sometimes just lying in bed is also painful, yet we must rest in order to overcome the virus or the affliction which has overtaken us. I hate it when I am sick and have so much ministry to do and I fall behind.  It makes the day very long because the body is aching so much. Yet somehow I still get through the days by leaning on Jesus to help me. When we are ill it is very natural to give up our activities so that we may overcome our illness. It is very easy to stay in bed and sleep because we are not at 100%.

While this works when we are sick, it does not work with our Christian faith. It should never be easy to just give up on God and let things happen. Today’s verse tells us: “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong.” With our faith, we may have difficult times but we are not to just give up. We are to stand firm in our faith. We are to be strong. We must trust in God. When we let that trust take a second seat to our pain then our faith suffers. For faith to grow there must be testing. To become stronger one must overcome, not submit. We must keep our trust in God and not in our own abilities, for when we do that we weaken our faith.

Folks if you have accepted Jesus as Your Lord and Savior and if you are obeying His instructions in the Bible then You have a source to go to when the going gets trough. If you are not saved then start by believing in God and who He is and then get baptized in Jesus name, filled with the Holy Ghost, and continue to live a holy sanctified life and You will see Jesus someday. The Bible is our roadmap and it has all the instructions we need to live for God. When I followed those instructions and still follow them it changed my life completely for the good and filled the empty void I once had and this was after years of drug abuse and being in prison as a result. I now have a brand new life in Christ which you can have too.  Praise the Lord!!

Acts 2:38-39 (KJV) 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
