Remove the Dirt

Sowing The Word - Not Merely Eating

Remove the Dirt

Apollos was a highly educated Alexandrian Jew who came to the town of Ephesus. He also was a cherished helper to the Corinthian worshippers. His friends, Priscilla and Aquila, supported Apollos. The people there were carnally minded people, and they believed in the human leaders. Paul laid the foundation for the believers of that time and era.  ‘’ I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase’’. (I Corinthians 3:6 KJV) Apollos showed himself very useful in the teaching of the power of God. Apollos was a faithful messenger of the truths of Jesus Christ. He spoke boldly in the synagogue with the body of believers.  By the front door at everyone’s home most likely is a “Welcoming mat” that may be of a rectangular shape. This represents a “Welcome” to the visitors and guests who enter the house. Next, to each door entrance at my house, there are two mats with beautiful ladybugs all over the mats. These mats are used to scrub the dust, dirt, and mud from the soles of the person’s shoes before they enter the house. The mats are usually made out of materials such as rubber, cloth, metal, and nylon. These types of doormats have to be made with tough materials to endure the harsh weather that’s on the outside of the house.  Just like a doormat gets dirt from our shoes, Apollos preached to the people to show them how to get free from the dirt and grime of sin in their lives.  Today our pastors, evangelists, and Sunday school teachers are doing the very same thing trying to show us how to live to get rid of the sin in our lives. Stay Encouraged!
