Trusting In the Lord Shouldn’t Be An Option.

Scripture Text: ‘’Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God’’ (Psalm 20:7 KJV)

Peter’s faith was weak, doubting, and unstable at times. The definition for unstable is: wavering in purpose or intent (Merriam- Webster) The Word of God demonstrates many accounts where Peter’s faith was weak and unstable. In the Word of God, it records, ‘’And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.  But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me’’.(Matthew 14:29,30) Jesus asked Peter to come to him and walk on the water. When Peter took his eyes off of Jesus, he began to sink into the water beneath him. Nothing is so drastic than falling in the deep water. This happens in our everyday lives. We may have the doubting times like Peter experienced. Many times the experiences are so overwhelming, crushing, and hard to tolerate. Some of the troubles are from a hurtful situation from a close friend or a family member.  The bills may be due, and the bill collectors are tormenting you with phone calls, but there’s no money in the bank to cover what you have owed. Maybe your child or a close family member is sick. I’m sure we may feel that the Lord doesn’t answer our prayers. Do we really trust the Lord to help us through our problems? Are you carrying some bad experience too long? Give to it to the Lord, and I will guarantee you this one: He will take care of it for you. There is an old hymn called ‘’Leave It There’’ By Charles A. Tindley. Charles had a friend who came to visit with him one day; his friend was a constant worrier. Charles told his friend ‘’ My
advice to you is put all your troubles in a sack, take ’em to the Lord, and leave ’em there.” The chorus to the song ‘’ Leave It There’’ is: ‘’Leave it there, leave it there, Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there. If you trust and never doubt, He will surely bring you out. Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there’’. Stay Encouraged!
