O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive, so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help (Psalm 86:5). I couldn’t have dreamt up God, not in a million years! No atheist could conceive of a God as good, as merciful, as compassionate, and as loving, as the God of the Bible, and as the God who has revealed himself to you and me. No mind that was formed as the result of the random collisions of molecules over millions of years could dream up such pure goodness as God is. And more, no religion that has ever existed on the face of the earth has ever conceived of such a God as is revealed in Jesus Christ. Other religions can conceive of perfection, justice and law, but never have they imagined such a compassionate love as the story of Jesus reveals. As Martin Luther King said, When I look at myself I wonder how I could ever be saved. When I look at God I wonder how I could ever be lost. For me, the fact that the goodness of the character of God is so far beyond what my mind can imagine is evidence for the existence of God. He’s a God who’s worthy of your love, and to whom you can entrust your life. – Eliezer Gonzalez Eli’s Reflection: Have you been looking at yourself too much? You know the symptoms: doubt, anxiety, lack of joy. Perhaps you need to be looking at God more. If you haven’t already set time aside every day to by overawed by God and his unfailing love toward you, do it now. Courtesy of Good News Unlimited
