Is Jesus God?
Messiah is called Mighty God.
Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Immanuel means God with us.
Matthew 1:23 “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”
The Word is God-Jesus is the Word. (see John 1:14)
John 1:1, In the beginning, was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Reference John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
Jesus calls Himself the I AM. (compare with Exodus 3:13-14 • also see
John 18:6)
John 8:56-59 56 “Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad.” 57 Then the Jews said to Him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?” 58 Jesus said to
them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.” 59Then they took up stones to throw at Him; but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so
passed by.
Reference One Exodus 3:13-14 13
Then Moses said to God, “Indeed, when
I come to the children of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they say to me, ‘What is His name?’ what shall I say to them?” 14 And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.”
And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ ”
Reference Two John 18:6 6 Now when He said to them, “I am He,” they drew back and fell to the ground.
Thomas calls Jesus “my Lord and my God”.
John 20:27-28 27 Then He said to Thomas, “Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing.” 28 And Thomas answered and
said to Him, “My Lord and my God!”
Jesus did not consider it robbery to be equal with God.
Philippians 2:5-6 5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God
Jesus is the image of God; the Creator of all things. (compare with Genesis 1:1)
Colossians 1:15-18 15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things,
and in Him, all things consist. 18 And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.
Reference Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Jesus is the fullness of the Godhead bodily.
Colossians 2:8-9 8 Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. 9 For in
Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily
The Apostle Paul says of Jesus, “God was manifested in the flesh.”
1 Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, Justified in the Spirit, Seen by angels, Preached among the Gentiles, Believed on in the world, Received up in glory.
The Apostle Paul calls Jesus “our great God and Savior”.
Titus 2:13 looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ
God the Father calls God the Son “GOD”.
Hebrews 1:5-8 5 For to which of the angels did He ever say: “You are My Son, Today I have begotten You”? And again: “I will be to Him a Father, And He shall be to Me a Son”? 6 But when He again brings the
firstborn into the world, He says: “Let all the angels of God worship Him.” 7 And of the angels, He says: “Who makes His angels spirits And His ministers a flame of fire.” 8 But to the Son, He says: “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your Kingdom.
Jesus is the Alpha and Omega, the First and Last, the One who is, who was and is to come. (also see Revelation 1:11 and 22:13)
Revelation 1:4-8 4 John, to the seven churches which are in Asia:
Grace to you and peace from Him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven Spirits who are before His throne, 5 and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, 6 and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. 7 Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen. 8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
Reference One Revelation 1:11 saying, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last,” and, “What you see, write in a book and send it to the seven churches which are in Asia: to Ephesus, to Smyrna, to Pergamos, to Thyatira, to Sardis, to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea.”
Reference Two Revelation 22:13 13 “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.” Consider this: The first two laws in the Ten Commandments prohibit the worship of any god other than the LORD Jehovah, the Living God (see Exodus 20:3-6 below). Yet during His earthly ministry, Jesus received worship from the magi, the leper, the man born blind, the Syro-Phoenician woman, the Gadarene demoniac, the ruler of the synagogue, the twelve disciples and the women on the day of His resurrection. In the Book of Revelation, we see that Jesus is worshipped by all of heaven. Reference Exodus 20:3-6 3 “You shall have no other gods before Me. 4 “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; 5 you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, 6 but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
Yes, Jesus is God.
God bless
