God’s Will and the President
During this election year, I’ve met with more apathy than any other time in my life. I’ve been surrounded by church family that believe it is not Biblical to vote; and DO NOT. It got to me. It had me stymied. I was irritated by their dispassionate and passive attitudes. I was told to “Shut Up.” more than once, because…well…I’m verbal.
Their basic statement and the bottom line is that God will put the man in power who He wants in power.
“But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.” Psalm 75:7
Therefore, according to my non-voting family, it is and always has been God’s will for Barack Hussein Obama to be the President of the United States of America. They believe that it doesn’t matter what we do, God will always have HIS will.
If this was the case, none of us would have to surrender our lives to Christ. If it is God’s will for me to be saved, then, I will be saved; regardless of my behavior. Why should I pray for my unsaved spouse? My backslidden children? For my Pastor? Why does ANYTHING?
BECAUSE:
Psalm 75 is specifically speaking to those who are foolish, proud and self-serving. Those who are so full of themselves as to NOT have the sense to fear the Lord. God is warning them NOT to blow their own horn, tell their own tales or promote their own agendas.Why?
BECAUSE:
“…God is the judge: he putteth down one and setteth up another. For in the hand of the LORD there is a cup, and the wine is red; it is full of mixture, and he poureth out of the same: but the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall wring them out, and drink them.” Psalm 75:7-8
So, I voted today. I did NOT vote for Obama. I did NOT win this battle. Does that prove the non-voters’ doctrinal theory to be true? No. Which of us wins every battle we engage in?
However, I will sleep well tonight, knowing that I stood my ground: as a Christian and American. I was determined to hold the line of righteousness and godly principles. I did not step aside and let the enemy rush in like a flood. I refused to allow the devil into my backyard without precaution; without even closing a gate.
“Of Zebulun, such as went forth to battle, expert in war, with all instruments of war, fifty thousand, which could keep rank: they were not of double heart.” 1 Chronicles 12:33
I was ONE vote AGAINST Barack Obama. I was ONE American who stood on the frontline and refused to lay down my liberties, rights and God-given freedoms.
I am ONE woman who will never step aside and allow the enemy across my threshold without a fight.
