Good morning! I hope you have already been blessed today, I have!
I drive a bus for a day school that works with special need children. This morning we were picking up a child who is in a family that has adopted three children, including him. She told us that this month the adoption will be final on the second child. Then she said something that set my soul on fire. When the parental rights of this child were severed by the state, this family gave her a whole brand new name so she would have a new identity and a new start. A future of promise!
“For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.” Rom 8:15
In Rome when a person was adopted they took on brand new identity and name of the new parent. All of their past was erased and it was as if they had never lived before the moment of their adoption. They did not have to fear the past. When we came to Jesus He gave us a brand new name, a new identity and we no longer have to fear the past, we have a future of promise!
