Barnabas was a resident of Cyprus, a Levite. His parents called him José’s, but the apostles called him Barnabas. He owned some land which he later sold. He gave all of the earnings to the church in Jerusalem. ‘’But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and declared unto them how he had seen the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus’’. (Acts 9:27 KJV) Barnabas introduced Paul to the apostles and to his fellow classmates at the school of Gamaliel. Barnabas was not an apostle, but he was sent from God to do a great mission for Him. John Mark was a cousin of Barnabas, and at first, Paul was unenthusiastic in taking a chance with his cousin John Mark to work with them in the missionary field. But Barnabas was always ready to encourage and be a peacemaker when times were so trying. We can’t change what people may think of us – no matter if we have never done anything to the person. Some people are just mean, cruel, or cold-blooded. Let’s make our lives portray love and kindness to our fellow man and always look for the very best in people in spite of how they treat us. Stay Encouraged.
