Sew sew sew!

A group for anyone who loves to sew and design! Let's share patterns and tips and show off our projects. Who needs off the rack, ready-to-wear anyway? ;) My main focus is sewing cute euro clothing for my kids but all seamstresses are welcome!

I think I'm going to use this little box for resources. I'll start by listing a few of my favorite online places for patterns and fabric.

First off is Ottobre Design. Probably the patterns I use most when sewing for my kids. Ottobre Design. They are a Finnish design company with very detailed design elements that look far far better than most off the rack clothing...at least in my price range. Their style is very high-end boutique.

Another is Sewzanne's. It's a home-based fabric and pattern business. Lots of upscale fabrics and Euro patterns. The Redondo skirt by Studio Tantrum has been a favorite in our family. I think I made my daughter at least 6 of them last summer!

The Fabric Fairy is another source of cute fabric, patterns, and notions.

Nice! very nice! She seems pretty pleased, too! I miss sewing for my girls.
I found a pair of pants for 50 cents at a rummage sale...am thinking it thru, I think I'm going to do a suede-ish kind of insert...will post as soon as I get it done. If I can conquer it and make it look good! =oD You've all inspired me here...anxious to get started.

I made this dress for my sister for Easter. I was very surprised with how well the jacket turned out because I had only made one jacket before!

Kristy , you said , wide elastic lace , did you mean its the type that looks like lace but it stretches.? I haven't seen that sold in Walmart.. could be that Joann's might carry it. I bought some several years ago.. but, the ones I had was like from 3 to 5 inches wide. I used it in making half slips and other under garments....real nice for that..since it was mostly white. Here is a url you can order it. I don't know of any local stores in my area that carries it.

Wow...are you using it for the waistband? You're looking, it seems, for the band type of elastic. I haven't seen that in a while; skirts used to have those perhaps 10 years ago; it was a part of the style. Do you have a Jo-Ann's in your area?
Have you considered laying two or three lengths of elastic side by side and running a zig-zag to join them? you'd have to allow stretching when you join them, as you'll want them to relax or expand when worn.

God is on time, and recently blessed me in a way , That still makes me feel like I am walking on Air. This is a story about Love, worthiness, and learning to trust, Jesus first and man second. It is also about being released from a life long bondage of hate. I share this for His Glory! My Lord and Savior , Jesus!

The Gift of Life Can Be a Battle

In our lives, we may face many difficult challenges. Situations that demand our immediate attention. Sometimes we become so overwhelmed with troubles in our world, that we easily forget about this blessing called life! If a person is not careful, they will only focus on the bad, and forget the good in their world! Learn to see the beauty that is in life, take a good look at what you do have in this life of yours. This will help you through the battle's that do come in this life of ours.

Take Up Your Bed and Walk!

Has life dealt you a stinky mess? Maybe it is time you took up your bed and walked!

Can You Believe Him for the Glory?

We don't have a hard time believing God for the past, we have seen and heard. We don't have time believing God for the present, we know He can do it. We don't have a hard time believing Him for the future we believe His Word and that He will. However, we do have a hard time believing that the test we are facing can bring Glory to God...

Church Leaders: What Are We Building

Why is one the biggest problem of the church today retention? I have heard of wonderful evangelistic events that have resulted in many being born again: yet a short time later, these people cannot be found. To me, this is a problem. Maybe it has to do with what we are building?
